Important: The accessibility improvement plan is currently underway, and this list will be updated as changes are implemented.
First published: February 2026
ORGANISATION, SCOPE, REGULATORY FRAMEWORK AND LEVEL OF COMPLIANCE
Responsible entity: THB hotels
Website: https://www.thbhotels.com
Audited modules: Entire website
Methodologies and tools used: A comprehensive audit including manual testing (NVDA, keyboard-only navigation, mobile screen readers) and automated evaluations with tools such as Lighthouse.
This website is partially compliant with the UNE-EN 301 549:2023 standard, as there are some exceptions outlined in section 5. We are actively working towards meeting the level AA criteria of the WCAG 2.1 guidelines.
ACCESSIBILITY SUPPORT MEASURES
A full accessibility audit has been carried out by the THB hotels web development team, using both automated tools and screen reader testing.
Accessibility improvements implemented
- Accurate labels and descriptions in forms and components: All form fields and interactive elements now include accessible labels and descriptions, using either label or aria-label as appropriate. WCAG 4.1.2. Compliant.
- Focus management and visibility: All active elements feature a clearly visible focus (visual outline) and follow a logical navigation order, allowing users to move through the page with ease. WCAG 2.4.7. Compliant.
- Accessible visual content: All graphic elements have been converted into images with appropriate descriptions for screen reader users. We are currently finalising the review of alternative text (alt attributes) for all images. WCAG 1.1.1. Compliant.
- Keyboard navigation: The website allows for complete navigation using only a keyboard. Active elements are highlighted with a visible, appropriately contrasted outline and follow a logical tab order for smoother interaction. WCAG 2.1.1, WCAG 2.4.3. Compliant.
- Screen reader compatibility: The site is fully compatible with assistive technologies, including NVDA and VoiceOver screen readers. This includes booking processes, error message reading and automatic focus on relevant fields. WCAG 4.1.2. Compliant.
- Accessible forms: Forms only validate and display error messages once the submit button is pressed, avoiding interruptions or confusion during typing and improving the experience for screen reader users. WCAG 3.2.2, WCAG 3.2.5. Compliant.
- Improved colour contrast: We have reviewed the website’s colour palette to ensure sufficient contrast in line with WCAG 2.0 level AA guidelines. (The orange colour used in some call-to-action buttons is scheduled for revision in an upcoming phase). WCAG 1.4.3. Partially compliant.
- Carousels and dynamic elements: Carousels and slideshow components (such as homepage banners and hotel galleries) can be paused, providing users with motor difficulties more time to read and interact. WCAG 2.2.2. Compliant.
- Accessible status messages: All site messages – whether error or confirmation – are automatically announced when triggered, ensuring that all users receive real-time feedback. WCAG 4.1.3. Compliant.
EVALUATION METHOD
A thorough audit was conducted by the THB hotels web development team using the following:
Desktop testing:
- NVDA + Chrome (Windows 11)
- NVDA + Firefox (Windows 11)
- Keyboard-only navigation
- Supplementary automated evaluations: Lighthouse
Mobile smoke testing:
- VoiceOver + Safari (iOS)
- TalkBack + Chrome (Android)
NON-ACCESSIBLE CONTENT PENDING REVIEW
- Call-to-action (CTA) button colour adjustment: We will revise the current orange shade to ensure sufficient contrast and achieve full compliance with WCAG 2.1 level AA. WCAG 1.4.3
- Alt text: We are in the process of completing the alternative descriptions for all images to ensure that every visual element conveys equivalent information to screen reader users. WCAG 1.1.1
- Assignment of semantic roles to website elements: We are implementing appropriate ARIA roles to help assistive technologies understand the purpose of each component. For example, identifying when a link functions as a button or when an element acts as a dialogue box or modal window. This ensures that assistive technologies interpret these elements correctly, providing a more consistent and accessible user experience. WCAG 4.1.2
