LESSONS FOR LIFE IN TIMES OF DIFFICULTY

For the last couple of months, we have been experiencing an unprecedented economic and health emergency that has literally turned our working and personal lives upside down.
The entire THB hotels team reacted rapidly to the situation, adapting the work of each member to the new circumstances, enabling us to carry out the measures that the company has been forced to introduce over the last few weeks, and we would like to thank you for that.

We also wish to thank all our loyal THB hotels customers for their collaboration and understanding in the light of a situation in which, acting out of a sense of responsibility rather than obligation, we must all stay at home in order to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Never before in our company’s history have we been in a situation requiring the closure of all our properties. However, we knew that it was a necessary measure in order to protect you, our customer or employee, members of the THB hotels family. We offered all those customers who had booked with us the option of modifying or cancelling their reservation, so that they can enjoy their holiday when all this is over.

Throughout this period, work has continued at THB hotels. We are looking ahead to the immediate future, but also analysing the present situation and considering everything we can do to provide support and assistance. In this sense, the circumstances we continue to experience have taught us several important lessons:

    - Learning to look after yourself so you can care for others. Who would have thought that staying at home and looking after yourself was a way of caring for others?

Appreciating the time spent with loved ones; at home, exploring our inner resourcefulness for ways of making the days, hours and minutes easier to cope with. Discovering previously unknown facets and learning how to look after ourselves.

    - Learning to protect. Countless individuals have put their lives at risk to make sure we have everything we need in ours. Medical staff, drivers, the police and civil defence forces, supermarket workers…they are the real heroes of this pandemic and we will be eternally grateful to them.

Our small contribution to the cause took the form of materials donated to hospitals and the decision to open the THB Mirador Hotel to medical staff who wished to avoid infecting their family members in their homes. Protecting the people that matter to us.

Since 1st April the hotel has been honoured to play host to some very special guests who we have worked hard to care for and pamper. It’s the least we can do: they deserve all this and much more.

    - Learning to say thank you
. After the long, taxing days our new guests have to face, we wanted to find a special way of expressing our gratitude for everything they do. We wanted to put a smile on their face even at the hardest of times, giving them a boost of joy. So what did we come up with?

Just for a while, we decided to swap their PPEs (Personal Protective Equipment) for our own EHEs (Endless Happiness Equipment). On their arrival at the hotel they received a small THB hotels kit with all the necessary ingredients for the holiday they deserve when all this is over.

The thrill of seeing those smiles of surprise and delight, the tears in their eyes on receiving those letters written from the heart and the messages of sheer gratitude is a feeling that will remain with us forever. Undoubtedly that has been our greatest gift. So a big thank you to all of you for that.

    - Learning to appreciate life’s small pleasures. Something as simple as having the freedom to go out for a walk, or spend a day out at the beach or in the countryside. The aromas of spring, summer and the sea. Closing your eyes and feeling the breeze and the sunshine, enjoying the sense of calm, free from all fears. Missing those get-togethers with friends and family, hearing their laughter close-up and toasting life, all together. And more than anything else, the value of hugging our loved ones in a long, heartfelt embrace.

    - Learning to adapt. For our own sake, as well as that of everyone else, we’ve had to put on hold the urge to go out, to visit family and get back to our normal routine. Our immediate future involves getting used to this new reality, with its new protocols and safety measures. It’s more important than ever to adhere to the recommendations issued by the authorities so that our example and sense of responsibility will ensure that all this will soon be over. We trust it will become just another chapter in our lives, a story to be told and a distant memory.

We will soon be back, stronger and more determined than ever to offer you the holiday of your lifetime. We are working on new safety measures and updating our protocols to guarantee you the confidence and sense of security we all need at this time.

A big thank you for everything and we look forward to seeing you very soon.

    The THB hotels Management Team.
